SALEM, Ore. — Oregon’s unemployment rate stayed the same month to month in December at 8.4 percent.
The nation’s unemployment rate for December was 7.8 percent.
Trade, transportation and utilities added the most jobs of the major industry sector, the Federal Bureau of Labor and Statistics estimates. Also, retail employment was three percent higher than it was in December 2011.
The Oregon Employment Department will release the employment statistics for Oregon’s individual counties on Jan. 23.
