EUGENE, Ore. — Fire season continues to intensify in Oregon. Fire crews from Lane County just returned from battling the Grants Pass wildfire this past weekend.
There are four wildfires burning in the state. The Warm Springs fire is the biggest; it’s burned nearly 23,000 acres and was only 20 percent contained Tuesday. The Gilchrist fire is 300 acres and is 10 percent contained.
In Lane County, fire crews are keeping a close eye on areas where homes are built near lands prone to wildland fires
“We’re always concerned about the wildland interface in the area in Lane County but not a particular road or anything like that. Everyone has their own spots they worry about,” said Chief Chad Minter, Coburg Fire District.
