SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — A 19-year old California woman was taken to the hospital for a mental evaluation after she reportedly led police on a chase in Springfield just after midnight on Sunday morning. Oregon State Police say they tried to pull the woman over for a traffic violation on South A Street and 16th, but she took off eastbound on Main street going nearly 50 miles per hour.
Police say she then headed west on Highway 126. It was only after deploying spike strips near Mohawk and again at Pioneer Parkway, that officers were finally able to detain the driver. She had to be physically removed from the car before being taken to the hospital.
