OSP Investigate Merlin Shooting

MERLIN, Ore. — Oregon State Police is continuing the investigation into a shooting Friday night. It says one person received a non-life threatening injury.

OSP says around 11:30 p.m., troopers and detectives responded to the reported disturbance and shots fire at 6160 Monument Dr.

Preliminary investigation indicated several adult males drove to a residence and made contact with the owner, 65-year-old Dennis Allen Smith. Troopers say a conflict ensued and at least one shot was fired hitting Matthew Roy Barbosa, 31, of Grants Pass, in the leg. Barbosa was taken to Three Rivers Hospital and treated.

OSP says when troopers and detectives arrived at the scene, everyone involved had left.
