SANTIAM PASS, Ore. — Oregon State Police is investigating a fatal crash near Santiam Pass Sunday.
OSP says around 12:35 p.m, a 2008 Ford Focus driven by Ellen D. Freddi, 34, of Jefferson, was traveling eastbound on Highway 20 when it lost control on the wet roadway and struck the guardrail on the south side of the highway.
The Ford crossed into the westbound lane where it collided nearly head-on with a 2007 Honda Accord. The Honda spun and was struck by a 2009 Toyota Rav Sport Utility Vehicle.
The Honda’s 33-year-old male driver was pronounced dead at the scene. A 32-year-old female passenger and two children were transported to the St. Charles Medical Center in Bend.
The Ford’s occupants Freddi and passengers Lindsey Hammons-Williams, 29, and Vanessa D. Silva, 31, both of Jefferson, were transported to St. Charles Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Toyota’s driver, Steven A. Warner, 59, of Beaverton, and passenger Rosalie Warner, 55, were treated at the scene, but not taken to a hospital.
