CORVALLIS, Ore. — Oregon State University broke ground Tuesday on what will soon be the new OSU Beaver Store.
It will be located at the parking garage right across from Gill Coliseum and Reser Stadium.
Managers say they expect that central location to bring in more customers, ultimately benefiting OSU students.
The new 50,000-square-foot, two-story building will have offices and meeting rooms.
The first floor will include a coffee shop and centralized check-out stations.
Perhaps most importantly, it’ll have about twice the amount of OSU Beaver gear than what’s currently in their existing space.
“I think our customers are going to really enjoy the expanded Beaver gear selection. There really isn’t anywhere else in the nation where you’re going to find the type of Beaver merchandise that you’ll find here in our store,” said OSU Beaver Store CEO Steve Eckrich.
The nonprofit OSU Beaver Store’s business model relies heavily on the OSU logo product. Those sales fund its student textbook rebates.
Managers say the great location and additional parking will boost those sales by making it more accessible to customers.
Construction will begin this summer, and OSU Beaver Store managers say they expect it to be open and ready for business by next summer.
