OSU Holds Walk and Run

CORVALLIS, Ore. — If you want to go for a walk with Benny the Beaver, you may have your chance on Friday.

Oregon State University is holding its fourth annual Be Well Walk and Run Friday afternoon.

It’s a 5k run and one-mile walk, and it’s free for everyone. Organizers say the event’s about learning about the healthy campus initiative, part of “Beaver Nation on the move.” Benny the Beaver is likely to make an appearance towards the end of the event.

“We’re focused on being active, eating healthy, managing stress, and a smoke-free OSU,” said Lisa Hoogesteger, the Healthy Campus Initiatives Director. “And those first three: being active, eating healthy and stress management are daily things we do, right? And it’s a way to build community as well, and we’re trying to make it fun.”

The run starts at 3:30 p.m. in the Memorial Union Quad. You can register online or show up at least a half an hour early. Costumes are encouraged.
