OSU’s 13th President Passes Away

7-10 RISSERCORVALLIS, Ore. — The man credited for overseeing a period of significant for Oregon State University has passed away.

Paul Risser died Thursday in Oklahoma. He served as OSU’s President from 1996 to 2002.

Current OSU President Ed Ray says Risser helped re-energize athletic programs, increase enrollment and led the establishment of the Cascades campus in Bend. Risser also wrote or edited six books and published more than 100 chapters and scientific papers.

He was 74-years-old.
