The First Friday Art Walk of the new year is this Friday. Bundle up and go on a tour of downtown Eugene’s art galleries, chat with the artists and enjoy some light refreshments. The tour starts at the M.E.C.C.A. Gallery next to the train station on Willamette Street. As always, it’s free.
Emerald City Roller Girls start their sixth season Saturday night at the Lane Events Center. The opening bout of the double header will feature a square off between two of Eugene’s local teams, the Flat Track Furies and the Andromadolls. In the second bout, Emerald City’s Church of Ska8in will compete against Portland’s two-time defending champs, the Break Neck Betties. Tickets are $12 in advance, or $15 at the door the day of. Children’s tickets are $5. Doors open at 5 p.m. The bouts start at 6 p.m.
The Oregon Ducks Women’s Basketball team has their Pac-12 opener in town this weekend. Friday they’ll take on UCLA Bruins, and Sunday they’ll play against the USC Trojans. Admission is $5-$15. Games are at Matthew Knight Arena in Eugene.
If you like the cold, join the Eugene Generals Hockey team for their first game of 2013. They’re taking on Bellingham this weekend. Games are Friday and Saturday at the Lane Ice Center at 7:35 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $6 for students and seniors and free for kids 5 and under. And on Saturday, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts who come in their uniform get in for $3.
