The walking dead will gather at Coos Bay for the 2012 Zombie Fest. You’ll want to dress the part, especially for the zombie beauty pageant. There will also be coffin races, music, and a zombie walk. All that and more happens Saturday and Sunday from noon to 11 p.m. In downtown Coos Bay. Proceeds from the zombie run and coffin races go to the American Cancer Society.
Pink Floyd’s album Dark Side of the Moon will be brought to life by the Eugene Ballet Company. Dancers will perform to the music played by cover band The Floydian Slips. You can see this rock ballet Saturday night and Sunday afternoon at the Hult Center. Tickets start at $22.
Strap on your favorite shoes and strut your stuff. The 2nd annual Sash and Shoe Strut at Valley River Center is the place to be to stamp out breast cancer. Meet at the north plaza for this 1K stroll Friday night at 6 p.m. It costs $20 in advance. Little ladies 12 and under get in for $10. That gets you a sash and a chance to win great prizes. Register online. All proceeds help local woman undergoing treatment at the Willamette Valley Cancer Institute.
You can run with local Olympian Nick Symmonds this weekend at his Springfield 800 meter road race. Other elite athletes will also be there too. Proceeds will benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lane County. Meet at the Washburn Historic District in Springfield Saturday at 1 p.m. Admission is $5-$15.
The fall harvest is in full swing and you can get your local food fix at Taste of the Valley. Sample some of the Willamette Valley’s best local foods and drinks at the WOW Hall in Eugene this Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. You’re asked to bring a $5-$15 donation, plus two cans of food.
