Paving Begins in Downtown, Whiteaker

EUGENE, Ore. — Crews will begin to repair parts of Fifth Avenue, Blair Boulevard and Van Buren Street this week.

Traffic won’t experience major effects until mid-June. So until then, crews will repair sidewalks and install pedestrian access ramps. Bike lanes will be closed and parking spaces will be unavailable near active work zones, Eugene Public Works said.

The primary source of funding for the project is the 2008 voter-approved bond measure to fix streets. Other sources of funding include approximately $180,000 from the City’s Community Block Grant program and funds from local stormwater and wastewater funds for underground pipe repairs.
