Phone Scam Reported in Lane County

PHONEEUGENE, Ore. — The Lane County Sheriff’s Office is a warning about a phone scam in Lane County.

The sheriff’s office says scammers are identifying themselves as law enforcement and telling people unless they wire them $325, they’ll send a car to pick them up on a warrant.

Deputies want to remind community members to be extremely cautious when you get calls from people you don’t know, especially requests for money.

If you suspect it’s a scam, hang up. Don’t give out your personal information, like your name, address or banking info. Never wire money to someone you don’t know, and be cautious of callers who demand money.
