EUGENE, Ore. — Ninkasi Brewing is holding a fundraiser for the Wattiers Monday.

Lane County sheriff’s deputy Drew Wattier and his wife Michelle were critically injured in a hit-and-run accident in Mexico back in November.

On Monday, 25 percent of all money raised at Ninkasi will go to the Wattier Medical Fund.

Pints for a Cause is known for its good turnouts, but the brewery expects an even larger crowd Monday night.

“For this event, we’ve seen about four times the response we get on a good night for other causes, so we’ve just felt overwhelmed with how much people are really paying attention and trying to help Drew and Michelle, so it’s been really touching,” said Nicole Nelson, Ninkasi Donations Manager.

“I can tell you that we take this very, very seriously. This is going to go to them,” said Michelle’s brother Mike Brye.

This weekend Drew and Michelle got to see each other for the first time in more than 40 days. The fundraiser goes until 9 p.m.
