Plastic Bag Ban on Monday’s Agenda

EUGENE, Ore — The proposal to ban plastic bags is one key issue that will be discussed at Monday’s Eugene City Council meeting.

The city has been considering banning plastic bags for a while. Portland and Corvallis already have plastic bag bans in place.

The other item being discussed Monday is the fate of the Downtown Eugene Public Safety Zone. The ordinance, set to expire soon, bans people cited for certain crimes in downtown from returning. City councilors will discuss changing the zone code or dumping it all together.

The public is welcome to attend the meeting and share their opinions. It’s taking place Monday, September 17th, at 7:30 p.m. at the Eugene Public Library.
