EUGENE, Ore. — Some quick thinking from two Eugene homeowners helped the Lane County Sheriff’s Office and the Eugene Police Department catch a burglary suspect in the River Road area.
Police identified the suspect as 54-year-old Mark Turczynski.
Police said it all started when two people came home to a burglar inside their house. The suspect then fled on foot and the homeowner chased him down, but he lost sight of the suspect. Police then showed up and set up a perimeter around the area.
The Eugene Police Department caught the suspect in a backyard near Howard and Purnell.
The suspect is now lodged in the Lane County Jail. The Lane County Sheriff’s Office said he was on probation for similar charges.
