EUGENE, Ore. — Two men were taken into custody following an early morning police chase Wednesday. KEZI 9 News was there as police chased down and captured one of the two suspects.
Anthony Teal, 23, was taken to Lane County Jail shortly after the car he was in went over an embankment in Skinner Butte Park. Joshua Hamner, 20, was found around noon near Valley River Center.
Eugene Police say they also found several hundred rounds of ammunition, gun boxes and possibly some stolen property in the car the two were driving.
“It’s possibly stolen property in the car given that the vehicle was stolen and so police are investigating further circumstances surrounding that car, the suspect they have in custody, as well as any other leads they might get,” said Melinda McLaughlin, EPD Spokeswoman.
EPD says they were originally trying to pull the car over for a traffic violation; after running the plates, they realized the car was stolen.
Police say Valley River Center security called about a suspicious suspect. With the help of a K-9 unit from Springfield, they were able to find Hamner nearby and took him in without any trouble.
