Police say their number one concern is about safety. They say protesters blocking traffic is common, but confrontations rarely become physical.
Medford Police say a teachers’ strike poses some unique challenges because there could be multiple picket locations.
“We only have so many people and we have several locations where there could be a potential protest, so what we are currently doing is changing around our staffing levels to accommodate for that,” said Medford Police Lt. Mike Budreau.
Officials say the schools opened during the potential strike – as well as the district office – are among the areas that will most likely see increased police presence.
