Police Investigate Fatal Vehicle Crash

HARRISBURG, Ore. — The Linn County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash that happened Tuesday afternoon.

Kenneth Kirkpatrick, 52, of Shedd, was traveling west on Diamond Hill Drive when his vehicle was struck by a van traveling north on Powerline Road, investigators said. The van driven by Glenda Boundy, 38, of Corvallis, failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection. The van hit Kirkpatrick’s vehicle in the driver side door and forced both vehicles off the roadway. Kirkpatrick’s vehicle struck a power pole.

The Harrisburg Fire Department responded to the scene and extricated Kirkpatrick. A medical helicopter transported him to Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend, where he later died.

Boundy and two adult female passengers received minor injuries. Two young children were also in the van, but were both in car seats and uninjured.

The crash remains under investigation, but alcohol and speed do not appear to be a factor in the crash.
