Police Search for Attempted Kidnapper

PRE'S TRAILSPRINGFIELD, Ore. — The Springfield Police Department is still looking for a man who they say tried to kidnap a woman Saturday afternoon.

Leslie Thomas says she was running along Pre’s Trail near the D Street boat landing when she was attacked.

As she was running, she passed a man on a bike who knocked her over and tried to drag her into a nearby bush. After punching him a few times, she got away.

Thomas says she won’t let this keep her from running, but she hopes others will be careful on the trails.

“I want for men and women to be more aware of their surroundings and if you start to feel like circumstances are suspicious and don’t feel right, then go the other way,” Thomas said.

The suspect is described as a six-foot tall white man, between 32 and 38 years old, with short blonde hair and facial hair. Police say he was wearing jeans, a grey and white bike helmet and a fanny pack.
