Police Search for Missing Man

UPDATE (2:40 A.M. Tuesday) :┬áPolice are requesting the public within a two-mile radius of 28th and Jefferson check in their front yards, side yards, and backyards for Walter Carlson. If he’s found, please all 9-1-1. Police and searchers will also be in that area.

EUGENE, Ore. — The Eugene Police Department is asking for help to find an endangered elderly man who has been missing since about noon Monday.

Police say 83-year-old Walter Carlson walked away from his residence at Southtowne Living Center on West 28th Avenue and hasn’t been located since. He is described as a white male, six feet tall, of medium build, with grey hair and last seen wearing a light colored top and golden yellow sweat pants. Police say he suffers from severe dementia, requires medical supervision, and is easily confused.

He responds to “Walter,” “Walt,” or “Coach.”

Police are concerned Carlson may be unable to find his way home before dark, when temperatures will drop.

Anyone who has seen Carlson should call 9-1-1.
