Police Seek Corvallis Crash Witnesses

CORVALLIS, Ore. — Oregon State Police are looking for people who witnessed a fatal crash on Highway 34 Wednesday afternoon.

The crash happened at about 2:45 p.m. two miles east of Corvallis near NE Colorado Lake Drive and involved three vehicles.

Police say a Pontiac Vibe was driving eastbound on the highway near milepost 2 in the left lane when a GMC Suburban going eastbound in the right lane tried to change lanes and hit the front of the Pontiac. The Pontiac crossed into westbound traffic and crash head-on with a Jeep.

The Pontiac’s driver, Chelsea D. Duffy, 22, from Myrtle Creek, died at the scene. The Jeep’s driver was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The Suburban’s driver was not injured.

Anyone who saw the crash happen or the GMC Suburban involved before the crash, call Trooper Casi Hegney-Bach or Trooper Ray Stallsworth at (541) 967-2026.

My friend and I were passing through moments after this wreck happened.
I’m so happy I was able to lay my hands on this woman taking her last breaths
in the vehicle so she would not pass alone. It was a risky thing to do with the condition
of the vehicle but I felt compelled, as a nurse and human being, to not allow her
to die alone. I’m very impressed with who she is as I read the stories and glad her
daughter has many potential relatives to help raise her. My prayers go to her family
    and friends.
