Police to Increase DUII Patrols

EUGENE, Ore. — With Thanksgiving on Thursday and Civil War game this Friday, local police departments are teaming up to keep impaired drivers off the road.

The Eugene Police Department is reminding those planning to drink to find a safe ride home before heading to the Civil War game.

To keep impaired drivers off the road, EPD is teaming up with the Springfield Police Department and Oregon State Police to increase DUII patrols. EPD says the majority of saturation patrols will be near Autzen Stadium, where it expects the highest amount of impaired drivers, but it’ll also keep an eye on other popular gameday hangouts.

Ten to 11 officers will be assigned to these patrols, and EPD says it’ll have a visible force out on the roads.

EPD says it’ll not only be on the lookout for drunk drivers Friday, but it will be out throughout the entire holiday weekend to work to keep any impaired drivers off the roads.
