Possible Sites for Opportunity Village

EUGENE, Ore. — The Eugene City Council is moving forward with where Opportunity Village Eugene could go if it approves the transitional camp for the homeless.

City staff presented a widdled down list to five city-owned sites that are close to public transportation, at least an acre of land, and are available with possible existing utilities.

Two sites are located in the Harlow neighborhood on Commons Drive near Autzen, one north of MLK, Jr. Blvd., another on North Garfield, and lastly the former naval reserve on 13th and Chambers.

“It’s just good now finally to have a list that we can begin working with and looking at those sites. A couple we had already looked at, but we have some new sites now to look at, so we’re thrilled to have something to start with,” said Dan Bryant, OVE Chairman.

The city council will hear from a panel of service providers in mid-November.
