Post Holiday Crime Prevention

video preview image

EUGENE, Ore. — Now that you’ve had a bit of time with your new Christmas presents, EPD wants to help you keep them out of the hands of thieves.

They urge you to write the serial number of expensive items and add tracking software to anything that hooks up to the Internet. This will help you get things back if they are stolen.

If you are going out shopping, try to leave your car empty – or at lease keep shopping bags in the trunk, out of sight.

You are also encouraged not to broadcast all of your holiday items. Keep them away from windows and break down the boxes of any big-ticket items so that thieves looking at your recycling don’t know you have them inside the house.
