Power Outage Downs 911 for Lane County

LANE COUNTY, Ore. — The Eugene Police Department says a power outage knocked out 911 lines for much of Lane County on Friday afternoon.

A spokesperson for EPD says that the outage caused emergency lines to go out in the Central Lane Service Area. Police radios were also out for a brief period, but were quickly restored. Crews restored 911 operations shortly before 5:45 p.m.

Although emergency lines are back up and running, fire stations are remaining fully staffed to handle a backlog of calls.
