Project Provides Housing for Veterans

honor a veteranEUGENE, Ore. — There’s a great way to salute a veteran of your choice while providing housing for vets coming back from overseas right now.

It’s all part of the Honor a Veteran display that went up at Valley River Center Tuesday morning.

Here’s how it works. For $20, you can buy a flag with a personalized dog tag that will be on display at the mall until June 20. That donation helps fund affordable rental housing for returning vets and their families.

“It’s cool to honor the veterans because they are people who have put themselves in harms way in order to let other people live in peace. You’re glad to be able to say thank you to them in a way that continues their service to others,” said Barb Ruiz of the Veterans’ Housing Project.

The display will continue to grow and travel to various events and locations around the Eugene-Springfield area for holidays like Fourth of July.
