ALBANY, Ore.–After 15 years as the head football coach at West Albany High School, Randy Nyquist is leaving the Bulldogs. Nyquist told KEZI 9 Sports that he accepted a job at Oregon City High School, where he will be the Pioneers’ head football coach and a physical education and health teacher.
Nyquist declined to comment further until after meeting with West Albany players. This week’s weather and subsequent school cancellations prevented Nyquist from doing so earlier in the week.
“Out of respect for my players, I don’t want to comment any more until I meet with them.” Nyquist said.
According to Oregon City High School’s website, Nyquist will meet with players and the community on Wednesday, Feb. 12.
After arriving at West Albany in 1999, Nyquist guided the Bulldogs to an 88-13 record, six league titles, and three state championships (2007, 2008, 2013). He was twice voted Oregon 5A Coach of the Year.
