Old things have value. we can learn so much from the past, so tonight when we visit the Oregon Air and Space Museum, reduce reuse recycle gets another r-- remember.
Aviation is only 103 years old. We have WW one through the 777 passenger aircraft.
Donations make up the collection- from the military to local folks.
This is a 1943 training glider. Given to us by a member from Coburg. It was in a barn in pieces.
It's been restored- other planes shall we say need a little work.
The gentleman flying this saw that it caught on fire- in the air.
Bailing out could have let the plane go down in an urban area.
He was up in the north state, the airport said we have fire suppression, put it down, so he did.
And keeping all this material out of the scrapyard does more than just keep it out of the scrapyard.
The point is they don't teach a lot of this in school now. The more we explain to the younger folks, the more they understand our history.
The folks at the oregon air and space museum are open wed through sunday noon to 4. This sunday they will have a fundraiser performance by their signature blue skies big band from 2 to 4.
