The sweet treat has been a part of the Eugene food scene since 2011 but didn’t have an actual shop until a year ago. The owners say they started out small and through community support, they were able to buy a shop downtown.
Customers got free junior scoops of ice cream Saturday afternoon from noon until 1 p.m., a way for the owners to show how much they appreciate the community.
“We love them back. We know we started really small, selling ice cream in parking lots and we wouldn’t be where we are today if Eugene hadn’t embraced us and loved our ice cream and what we’re doing with local food,” said Stuart Phillips, owner of the Red Wagon Creamery.
