EUGENE, Ore. — Online registration for the 2013 Business Commute Challenge opened Monday. This annual competition gives local businesses and their employees a chance to outdo one another, by finding ways to drive less and rethink their commute.
This years challenge will take place May 11-17, making competitors find an alternative route to work for a week. Participants can walk, bike, take the bus, carpool or telecommute from home instead of driving their own vehicle.
“We want people get out there and have fun with it,” BCC Coordinator Marcia Maffei said. “The Challenge is about encouraging people to try another way to travel to work while they save money, improve their health, and help our environment.”
Organizers have events planned throughout the week, including a lunchtime Poker Walkabout, breakfast events on the bike path and the Next Stop Center.
