Relief from the Heat is on the Way

Meteorologist Melissa Frey’s Forecast Discussion:

We’ve now reached 90° and above 13 times this summer and it’s not even August! Our average high temperature right now is 84° and we haven’t been that for over a week! The relief from the heat comes this weekend.

The ridge of high pressure which has kept ups warm this past week is breaking down and moving south and east. In behind it is a trough of low pressure which will bring in some cooler air from the north. It will also help to bring back on-shore flow. On-shore flow means morning cloud cover for all of western Oregon.

Highs will fall to the mid 80s Saturday, and then low 80s Sunday. We’ll keep it parked right there through Thursday of next week.

Have a great weekend!
