Returning to “Normal”

Meteorologist Melissa Frey’s Monday Forecast Discussion:

After nine straight days with above average high temperatures we’re finally starting to return to “normal”. Our average high temperature in Eugene for mid April is 60° we haven’t been that cold in the late afternoon since April 5th! We also haven’t seen much rainfall this month. So far we’ve only picked up 0.14″ at the Eugene Airport, typically at this point in the month we would have seen about 1.74″.

Small disturbances will begin to move into the Pacific Northwest about every 24 hours, but most of the energy is headed well to the north of us. We’ll basically see partly to mostly cloudy skies with highs in the low 60s Tuesday and Wednesday. A cold front will bring in a chance for light showers overnight Tuesday into Wednesday for most of western Oregon, although best chances for rain will be north and at the Coast and in the higher elevations of the Coast Range and Cascades.

By Thursday a stronger cold front will move across western Oregon. We’ll see good chances for rain Thursday afternoon and evening. Highs will stay in the low 60s.

Friday and Easter weekend is looking quite mild. We’ll still see partly to mostly cloudy skies and possibly some light showers late Saturday/early Sunday, but otherwise dry with highs in the mid-60s.

Have a great day!
