Riders Pay Tribute to Fallen Soldier

Cody Patterson plaquePHILOMATH, Ore. — A fallen Philomath soldier was honored in a special way Thursday during a cross-country motorcycle torch ride.

Army Specialist Cody Patterson lost his life in Afghanistan last October.

On Thursday, the Tribute to Fallen Soldiers Northwest revved up their motorcycles to visit Patterson’s family.

The riders started their trip with a torch that will stay lit through their journey. They gave Patterson’s family a plaque honoring the fallen soldier.

“I’m honored and humbled. It means the world to me to know that my brother is honored, as well as all the other fallen soldiers and their families,” said Cody’s sister Nicole Patterson.

The motorcyclists will travel 2,000 miles in 10 days to meet with families of fallen soldiers.
