EUGENE, Ore. — It’s not the usual setting for a memorial but a Eugene mother says a miniature golf course is the best place to remember her son.
Ronan Burgess died from the flu just days after Christmas.
Friends and family are remembering the life of the 5-year-old, Ronan, who died from H1N1 on December 29th, at Putters.
His mom, Calandra Burgess, says this was where he celebrated his first birthday and it’s been his favorite place ever since. She says she’s appreciative of all the people who attended on Sunday evening and glad Ronan’s life has touched them in some way.
“I don’t know how many people are going to show up and who all it is going to be but I know with each and every single one of them, I know that Ronan had a profound impact on their life and I appreciate all the support and everything that people have done,” said Burgess.
Friends and family all describe Ronan as a bubbly, energetic kid who brightened up everyone’s day.
There are friends from all over remembering Ronan today, from Portland and even Colorado.
Calandra says there is an account set up through US Bank to help with expenses. Donations can be made at any location.
