Police received a 911 call Wednesday morning from a man saying he was following his car, which had been reported stolen two days before.
A Winston police officer stopped the vehicle near Willis Creek Road and Brockway Road with 22-year-old Joshua Crossley inside. But Crossley ran off, jumped into the South Umpqua River, and crossed to the other side.
Crossely was taken into custody a short time later with help from a K-9 unit. He’s now facing several charges, including unauthorized use of a vehicle, possession of a stolen vehicle, interfering with a police officer, attempt to elude on foot and parole violation.
