Roseburg Motorcyclist Dies in Crash

ROSEBURG, Ore. — A motorcyclist died Friday after crashing on Old Melrose Road.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office says 46-year-old James Ganzini, of Roseburg, was riding his motorcycle north behind a pickup truck. When he tried to pass the truck in a no-passing zone after exiting a sweeping corner, he was hit by a Subaru wagon that was going south. The wagon’s driver tried to avoid hitting Ganzini by pulling onto the shoulder but was unsuccessful.

Gazini hit the wagon, which sent him and his motorcycle in front of the pickup. The pickup hit Gazini and his motorcycle.

Gazini was life flighted to Sacred Heart Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. The wagon’s driver was treated for a broken ankle and the pickup’s driver was uninjured.

The crash is still under investigation.

Yea, so I was going east on beltline when some idiot on a sport bike flew between me and the car right next to me..Its sad that other drivers get hurt, but it does weed the idiots that ride these bikes out. if you want to do the lane splitting thing, move to a state that allows it..I have been a riders for many years..and I don’t feel the need to be stupid when I ride, but then again I guess its why I am still breathing.
