Rotarians Groom High School Students

EUGENE, Ore. — The local rotary club is working to bring younger generations under its wings.

Rotarians say Springfield High School, Thurston High School, Sheldon High School and Churchill High School all have groups called interact clubs.

Churchill’s advisor says it’s more than just stirring interest in the youth, it’s about instilling a passion in them to do good for others.

“You know we say it all the time that you get more back personally than you ever give. I mean it’s just very rewarding to be able to contribute to the community in various ways,” said John Sather, Rotarian Advisor.

There is also a college-age or young professional’s version called Rotaract, including one at the University of Oregon.
