Rotarians Honor Duck Race Contributors

EUGENE, Ore. — Great Rotary Duck Race organizers celebrated a job well done Tuesday.

Hundreds of Rotarians gathered to recognize and award top ticket sellers and volunteers.

In all, more than $341,000 was raised to help six local nonprofits fight child abuse and neglect in Lane County. More than 68,000 ducks were sold.

Dale Hartley of Eugene Airport Rotary helped lead the year-long effort.

“It’s worth it because the children win…I was at the Relief Nursery this morning doing a tour for a potential new donor for the nursery who got introduced to the nursery through the duck race,” Hartley said.

Rotary members will get to work right away selecting nonprofits to benefit next year. In 26 years, the Great Rotary Duck Race has raised $6 million for area nonprofits.
