Runners Show Off Ugly Sweaters

EUGENE, Ore. — It’s not your usual running attire, but hundreds threw on ugly Christmas sweaters and ran through downtown Eugene Sunday.

This 5K walk and run is not only an athletic competition. Participants are judged on who wore the tackiest holiday get-up. It started at Alton Baker Park and ended at 5th Street Public Market. The event is not just fun, but it supports a few different local nonprofits.

“The Ugly Sweater Christmas Run is raising toys and funds for Toys For Tots and the Foster and Adoptive Parent Association of Lane County and Food For Lane County. That’s awesome!” said Debbie Albright, “The Fuzzy Fruitcakes.”

At the end of the race, there was eggnog, music, a snowblowing machine and lots of dogs in sweaters.
