But hundreds of others woke up bright and early to get their new year started off on a healthy foot.
More than 500 people participated in First Run. About 300 of those ran Monday night just as the clock struck midnight. They ran along the paths near the Valley River Inn.
The rest of the group ran Tuesday morning in both a 5K and 10K.
“It’s an alternative to going out and partying. I’m sure a lot of the people that came out last night and are here this morning feel a lot better today than some of the others that chose the other alternatives,” said James Houghton, Eclectic Edge Racing Manager.
Prizes were awarded for top finishers.
