RV Show Claims Industry Boost

EUGENE, Ore. — The recession hit the RV industry hard, but in the past year reports show things are looking up. Those feelings are being echoed at the annual RV show.

Not only is attendance up about 30 percent this year, showing a boost in buyers, but show representatives say customer morale is up, too.

The show’s promoter says over the past few years, people came to the show to shop, but they were obviously reluctant. He says the atmosphere this year is more positive, just like the outlook for the industry.

“It’s been down. People have been hesitant. They’ve had money to spend, but they just weren’t willing to spend it. So this year, they’re coming, they’re bright eyed, they brought their buying rigs, and they’re getting ready to enjoy the RV lifestyle,” said Dave Weinkauf, RV Show Promoter.

We have seen three manufacturers close here in Lane County, and even a few dealerships, but the show promoter says those changes just made the strong RV dealers even stronger. All those dealers are there this weekend in one place for those confident consumers.

The show runs through Sunday at the Lane Events Center.
