Sacred Heart Has Lowest Readmission Rate

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend has the nation’s lowest re-admission rate for heart failure, according to the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

The CMS did a nationwide study between July 2008 and June 2011 and found that RiverBend has a 19-percent readmission rate for heart failure. That’s the lowest of all the hospitals it looked at.

This is important because under the Affordable Care Act, hospitals can face financial penalties if patients are re-admitted for the same condition within 30 days of being discharged.
