CORVALLIS, Ore. — A Corvallis health care provider is being rewarded for practicing what it preaches.
The Portland Business Journal named Samaritan Health Services the healthiest employer in the state with more than 1,500 employees. The organization provides services in the Mid-Valley to the Coast.
The Journal promotes healthy workplaces, especially when it’s done through innovation.
Samaritan Health Services says they have a number of competitive activities to promote employees to lose weight or to eat healthier.
“What we’re doing is trying to build healthier communities,” said Larry Mullins, the Samaritan Health Services President and CEO. “So we see this as somewhat of a validation of that effort and that philosophy, and we want to build on it.”
The organization also gives employees gym memberships or stipends to attend exercise classes.
“We want to take the same practices we learned as an employer and engage with our own employees,” Mullins said. “And to try to take that out to each and every community that we’re in.”
