Samaritan Health Services recently opened a new conference center a few weeks ago. The center is across the street from the hospital and medical school.
Samaritan says the center’s already booked for weddings and other conferences. It anticipates it will bring outside revenue to the community.
“The conference center is already bringing people from surrounding areas to hold events here,” said Larry Mullins, Samaritan Health Services President and CEO. “So all of those things are good economic drivers and I think it’s something that the community and the region can take a lot of pride in.”
The Samaritan Center can hold 300-500 people, but Mullins said the outdoor patio area will likely expand in the future.
“The level of community support that we’ve had for this project, locally and throughout the region has been great,” Mullins said. “So there have just been a lot of people who have helped made it possible.”
Next on the agenda is a Japanese healing garden and a hotel that will go up next to the center. Those projects are already under way.
