JUNCTION CITY, Ore. — The Scandinavian Festival in Junction City got a big honor.
It received an Oregon Heritage Tradition Designation, which is only given to festivals and fairs that have been around for at least 50 years.
Board member David Vaughan says they filed an application with the state’s Oregon Heritage Commission in October, and they just received the notice they got the award.
“It’s just another way to bring honor to my people, to Junction City, to the Scandinavian cultures, to Junction City in general, to my family. It’s a wonderful feeling of pride,” Vaughan said.
The Scandinavian Festival is approaching its 54th year. The City of Junction City will be awarded a plaque for the distinction on Jan. 14.
