JUNCTION CITY, Ore. — Junction City has transformed itself into a Scandinavian village. The 52nd annual Scandinavian Festival started today and from food to crafts to traditional Scandinavian folk dancing, there’s a lot happening at this year’s event.
There are a few new booths and, of course, the old favorites are back, including the abelskiver booth ran by the Faith Lutheran Church. Many say this festival is a unique experience.
“You don’t see abelskivers everywhere and the customs a lot of them are really authentic,” said Irene Lund, a volunteer at the festival.
A Scandinavian meatball dinner will be served Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. It’s $10 for adults and $7.50 for kids under 12. The festival’s hours are:
Thursday 8/9: 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM
Friday 8/10: 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM
Saturday 8/11: 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM
Sunday 8/12: 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM
