School Supply Giveaway In Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — It was back to school a little early Wednesday for some students in Springfield but they didn’t hit the books.

Hamlin Middle School partnered with the Springfield Faith Center to host a barbecue and school supply giveaway.

It was open to all Hamlin students and their families.

The principal, Kevin Wright, said this is the fourth year they’ve done this and it’s a great way to motivate kids to learn.

“This is a really great opportunity for us as a school and as a staff to welcome families, get the school year going in the right direction and equip them with materials necessary to be successful in school,” said Wright.

Along with the supplies, students were offered free haircuts and all got to have lunch with their families.
