Schools Add Days Due to Snowstorm

EUGENE/SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — Springfield Public Schools is adding days to the calendar to compensate for all those snow days, the district announced Thursday.

Jan. 6, originally a furlough day, is now a normal school day for middle school and high school. Elementary students a grading day, so they have it off. The district also added Thursday, June 12 and Friday June 13, which is now the new last day of school.

4J students will have to make up four snow days, but the school year won’t be extended. Administrators approved a new schedule Wednesday. Students will be going to class on previously scheduled furlough days. Those are March 31, April 17 and 18, and May 23.

The district says students will not lose any school days and the trimesters will be balanced.
