(CNN) — Russian scientists are studying pieces of the meteor that exploded over southern Russia Friday.
Authorities have recovered dozens of fragments from a frozen lake, but they’re still looking for the main piece.
Friday’s blast shattered windows in thousands of buildings, causing more than $33 million worth of damages and injuring more than a thousand people.
NASA says the meteor was 55 feet wide, weighed 10,000 tons and was traveling more than 40,000 mph.
