Seasonal Hiring Begins Locally

EUGENE, Ore. — Many area businesses are starting to increase their staff ahead of the holidays. For some local businesses, seasonal staffing is in full swing.

Others are just starting to open up positions, since the holiday season is just around the corner and some workers went back to school.

With the start of this fall season, clothing store Aeropostale is looking to hire five positions. It’s looking to boost its staff of 15 up to 25 by the end of the month. Ideally it’s searching for students looking for part-time work.

“This year we lost a lot of our core staff because they went to college because they graduated high school, so we have more of a need this year from that, you also lose people just when they go back to school they need to focus on school so there are several different reasons you lose people,” said Elise Chambers, Aeropostale Manager.

Other businesses in Valley River Center, like J.C. Penney, say they’re hiring a few extra positions for the fall. The same goes for a couple restaurants in that area.

The Target store off West 11th is also currently looking to bring on extra staff starting this month. Also, Costco on Chad Drive is already getting into the swing of holiday hiring. It’s looking to fill 30 positions.
